Welcome to Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley’s home page.  We are a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, home building organization.

Our Mission

We build homes in the northern portion of Kane County for families in need who cannot qualify for a conventional mortgage.  Our partner families work along side our volunteer labor force in the construction of their home.  Once completed, the homes are sold to the family at no profit and the families are provided with a zero interest mortgage.

Our Site

To explore our site, use the links on the left in the blue column, or any underlined text.  These links lead to details on our organization.  Blue outlined columns on the right give critical information and organizational highlights.

ABOUT US:  Our structure, our Board, our Staff and our unique Partnership structure of church and civic groups who help build our homes and provide alternative ways to be involved with our mission.

VOLUNTEERING:  Volunteers are at the core of our organization, explore ways to be involved starting on the right.

CONSTRUCTION:  The heart of our mission.  This year we will mix new construction with rehabs, including a historic 1890's Elgin home.  Rehabs provide homes for our Partner families and help stabilize neighborhoods.

RESTORE:  Our retail effort selling new and lightly used building materials to the public, dedicated to funding homes and saving the environment by minimizing materials going into landfills.

CORPORATE SPONSORSHIP:  Learn how your company can help create a home, provide employees with the opportunity to give back, build teamwork ...and have fun.

EVENTS & CLASSES:  We run events to raise funds, have fun, and build a community for our volunteers and our partner families.  We run classes to help everyone maintain their homes.

DONATIONS:  Their are many ways to help fund our mission, find one that works for you.

HOME OWNERSHIP:  If you want to own your own home and can't afford a conventional mortgage, you may qualify for our program.

To learn about becoming a Habitat for Humanity Homeowner, you must attend one of our orientations.  Our next orientation will be Saturday May 16th at St. Monica's Catholic Church 90 N.  volunteering: get Involved

The driving force behind the organization is its volunteers— those who contribute a day, a week, a few months, to give Habitat’s vision a tangible form.  Help build, serve on a committee or at the ReStore, assist in fundraising events, donate materials.

To learn more about volunteering, including some of our critical needs,  click here, or attend one of our orientations.  Orientations are the first Saturday of each month (NOTE, since the first Saturday in July is the 4th, our next Orientation will be Sept. 1st) at 10:00 AM at our ReStore facility located at 800 North State in Elgin (Rt. 3, one mile south of   I-90).  For detailed directions, go to our ReStore Hours and Location page.

BUILD DAY STATUS: to check for a last minute cancellation due to weather etc, call the office,               (847) 836 1432, and hit 5.  We will update this message at 7:00 the day of the build if an issue arises.
